Redwoods Day 3

A cool morning at Enderts beach

    Leah touching a starfish

We have been gone for 1 week now and all of the cares of home have faded away.  1 whole week with no TV and limited contact with people has made us feel like we are in a little cocoon here!  We started off our day early and headed to the tide pools at Enderts beach.  It was incredible as again, the forest meets the ocean and we ended up doing a hike along the Pacific Trail to get to this secluded beach.  The tide was out and the starfish were plentiful.  There were orange ones and purple and all kinds of different sea creatures.  We climbed around the rocks and enjoyed the rugged beauty of the coast.  Boy was it cold!  In the low 50's.  We spotted a herd of elk on our drive back and then headed to the laundry mat.  While I caught up on laundry, the kids and Tim walked around and went to a lighthouse, a park, and saw more tide pools.  I decided to stock up on groceries since Safeway was right there and then we attempted the beach.  It was too cold!  We set up shop on the beach and the girls said no way were they going in so we decided to head back to our campsite and hang out at the river.  Oddly enough, the forest is warmer than the coast so that is what we did.  The girls found some frogs and a snake in the river.  Then it was time for dinner, campfire, showers, and goodbyes to our new friend at the visitors center.  Tomorrow we leave for Oregon but we enjoyed our time in the Redwood forests here in Northern California.
