Oregon Day 2

Yesterday was beanies, jeans and gloves and today was shorts, T-shirts and flip flops!  I woke up a little worried that yesterdays weather would continue as we were pelted with rain all night but God got it out of His system and we arose to sunshine...despite the forecast!
Our campsite at Nehalem Bay State Park- sunshine!
So, we headed out to Cannon Beach for the day.  It is only 15 miles North of our campground and this is a place I have always wanted to visit as our former pastor would come here every summer and it just sounded wonderful....and boy was he right!  We started off at Haystack rock which is a huge rock in the ocean teeming with birds on top and sea creatures below.  The tide was out so it was a huge tide pool of more orange and purple starfish, anenomes and clams.  This was the best tide pool yet as they were plentiful!  In addition, the bird watching was incredible...we saw these cute little puffins that have gorgeous orange beaks.
Here we are at Haystack rock in Cannon Beach

We then walked around all of the adorable shops on Hemlock street and I went into a cooking school I had heard of and the chef was in the middle of the restaurant right as you walk in roasting tomatoes...they had a little store where I bought a utensil I have been wanting and it was just heavenly in there!  We stopped for lunch and ate on the patio and had the best clam chowder.  All of the stores and restaurants look like little cottages and the area is so beautiful, quaint and full of gorgeous landscapes and flowers.  After that we went for some ice cream in Manzanita- it was Tillamook ice cream which is 30 miles south of here and it was great.  We decided to head back to our beach at our campground as it was so sunny and nice.  So the rest of the afternoon was beach time with frisbee throwing, kite flying, sand castle making and boogie boarding.
Beach time!

Then it was dinner, campfire (more deers!) a bike ride and some playground time for the girls.  We then headed back to the beach for sunset.  It was a great day and we have all fallen in love with the Oregon coast and this gem of a park!
